The Five Steps (30 Minutes Total)
Recall Your Faith Journey (5 min)
Think of 3–5 key moments that brought you closer to God — joyful, difficult, or quiet turning points.
Write these moments in the first column of your page, from past to present. These are the milestones of your story.
What You Were Focused On (5 min)
Next to each moment, write what you were seeking at that time — truth, courage, belonging, forgiveness, peace, purpose.
These are your frontstage actions, the ways your heart reached toward God.
Where You Need Support (5 min)
In the next column, jot down areas where you still need grace — patience, consistency in prayer, hope, humility, confidence.
These are your backstage processes, the hidden places God is still shaping.
Saints Who Mirror Your Journey (10 min)
Look for saints who lived through similar struggles or virtues:
- Searching for faith → St. Thomas the Apostle
- Seeking courage → St. Joan of Arc
- Simplicity → St. Francis of Assisi
- Mercy and trust → St. Faustina Kowalska
Write 2–3 names in a new column for each row on your paper that resonate with your journey — you’ll start to see a golden thread connecting their lives to yours.
Pray and Discern (5 min)
Your Golden Thread is the pattern of grace that runs through your life—connecting your joys, struggles, and hopes to the saints who have walked before you. This simple exercise transforms your faith story into a map of divine companionship. Keep your sheet; revisit it as you learn more about the saint you’ve chosen and remember: every saint began as an ordinary person who let God weave their story into something eternal.
