About

I’m an OCIA Sponsor who started Go Be Witness to capture the little moments, big questions, and quiet lessons that come with walking beside others on their journey of faith.

OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process through which adults explore the Catholic faith and prepare to enter the Church through Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.

A sponsor walks beside someone going through OCIA, offering support, encouragement, and friendship as they learn about the Catholic faith. Sponsorship has been part of the Church since its earliest days. In the first centuries of Christianity, new believers were guided by a sponsor who helped them learn the faith, prepare for baptism, and live as part of the Christian community.

If you’re interested in becoming a sponsor or going through OCIA yourself, reach out to your local Catholic parish. Most parishes have an OCIA team that can answer questions and help you get started.
